Understanding Osteoarthritis and Its Treatment Options | Medicine in Our Backyard

About 13% of women and 10% of men who are 60 or older have knee osteoarthritis. In osteoarthritis, cartilage — the connective tissue that acts as a shock absorber within the joint — gradually wears down with age, inflammation or other factors. Ryan DiGiovanni, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCI School of Medicine, will present the most up-to-date treatment options for treating knee osteoarthritis.
