UCI Health Two-Day Blood Drive

UCI Health Blood Donor Center — Orange 
Sept. 6–7
9 a.m.–5 p.m. 

Donate blood and help UCI Health replenish its blood supply after the Labor Day holiday. All blood donors will be treated to a donut and receive a $10 gift card from a local coffee shop. Plus, throughout this month, all donors will be entered into a drawing to win a gift card to Disneyland.

UCI Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute's Culinary Health webinar series is a 50-minute workshop based on the UCI School of Medicine culinary medicine curriculum.

Healthy Living Series: Heart Health

Discover how to live well and be equipped with the tools you need to improve your life and well-being. This online series will help you gain knowledge on important health topics, exchange resources, solve problems, provide mutual support and empower you to take charge of your health. Classes take place every other Tuesday 3 to 4 p.m. On Sept. 12, the class will discuss heart health. On Sept. 26, the class will discuss healthy eating as we age.

Art of Diagnosis Symposium 

Medical Humanities & Arts Program

UCI School of Medicine’s Medical Humanities and Arts Program (MHAP) invites you to celebrate student art focused on implicit bias and diagnostic medicine. This event aims to promote awareness of thoughts, attitudes and feelings surrounding diagnoses — for both patients and physicians. Dr. Candice Taylor-Lucas will be the keynote speaker, and featured workshops include mask making, medical improv, making miniatures, photography mosaic and stamp-erasers, as well as free painting.

Acupressure for Labor Pain and After-Delivery Care

Learn how you can use acupressure to reduce pain during labor as well as after delivery for breastfeeding. In this 60-minute Zoom class, pregnant mothers and their labor partner(s) will learn how to apply acupressure during labor and after delivery, as well as the benefits for your overall health and wellness during the first days after your baby's birth.

To be included, events must be open to the public, health-related, and hosted or co-hosted by a UCI Health entity. Healthy Happenings is distributed at the beginning of every month.
