UC Irvine through the years

Six decades in the making

In 1965, founding Chancellor Daniel Aldrich walked across a dusty, unfinished campus in the KNBC TV program “Birth of a Campus”, describing a university that existed mostly in imagination. Sixty years later, that vision lives on through the people, discoveries and communities that have helped shape UC Irvine. As the university’s 60th anniversary celebration comes to a close, revisit the campus’s remarkable evolution in “Building UC Irvine” and see how the new “Powered by Possibility” anniversary video reimagines that story for a new generation.
